SAP-WMS integration
A B2B wholesaler intends to implement a separate WMS for the 2 warehouses located at different sites. As the current operations are primarily managed through SAP, establishing a connection between SAP and the WMS becomes imperative. SAP serves as the primary system of record, necessitating timely and accurate data transmission to the WMS. However, considering the future integration of a PIM (Product Information Management System) and a webshop, a conventional one-to-one linkage proves inadequate. A versatile and dynamic integration solution is required. In this context, the Workflow Robot emerges as the optimal choice, offering the flexibility and adaptability essential for seamless interoperability among the systems involved.
Goal
- Automated Data Transfer: The company aims to establish automated data transfer between the ERP ((SAP), WMS, PIM, and webshop, enabling seamless exchange of data among the systems.
- Streamlined Workflows: By integrating all logistics flows, from order placement to delivery, they aim for streamlined and optimized operational processes.
- Improved Customer Service: Webshop customers should receive real-time updates about their orders and deliveries, resulting in enhanced customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Solution
The B2B wholesaler has implemented a comprehensive integration solution to connect the ERP (SAP), WMS, PIM, and webshop. Here’s how it works:
- Order Placement in Webshop: When a customer places an order in the webshop, the order data is automatically forwarded to the ERP system for processing. This includes information such as product details, customer data, and shipping address.
- Automatic Order Processing in ERP: The ERP system processes the received orders and then generates the necessary documents, such as packing slips and invoices. Simultaneously, the order data is forwarded to the WMS to prepare the transport orders.
- Preparation and Execution of Transport Orders in WMS: The WMS automatically receives the order information from the ERP and prepares the transport orders, including route planning and carrier assignment. Once the orders are picked up or shipped, the delivery data is sent back to the ERP and the webshop, including inventory updates.
- Real-time Updates for Customers: Customers receive real-time updates via the webshop regarding the status of their orders, including order confirmation, shipping status, and expected delivery date. This ensures improved transparency and customer satisfaction.
